Can the Use of Essential Oils Really Get Rid of Cellulite?

by Gal Bishop

While there is no perfect solution to get rid of cellulite permanently, there are a number of alternatives for cellulite removal you might choose to use. And, there are various inexpensive methods you can try in the comfort of your own home.

As an example, treating cellulite with essential oils is a home remedy alternative many women turn to. While it usually doesn’t leave a complete cure, it can help smooth your skin’s bumpy look. In fact, if you use it along with massage in the areas where you have the most cellulite trouble, you’re likely to get great results.

Of course, you need to know about your skin condition prior to trying any cellulite reducing treatment. When the connective tissues underneath the skin turn weak, fat pockets are allowed to push to the surface of the skin and this is what causes cellulite. It can happen for a number of reasons, but help is at hand and quite regularly a change can be put into practice to remove existing cellulite effectively.

Using Essential Oils to Lessen Cellulite

Cellulite can be diminished by using essential oils in two basic ways. The first one, as mentioned earlier is to use the oils at the same time as massage. The other way is to add essential oils to your bathing routine. Using essential oils may improve your circulation as well as prevent you from retaining excess fluids in your skin.

Essential oils come in a selection of different fragrances such as the citrus varieties of grapefruit, lemon and orange. Cypress, juniper, lavender, lemon, rosemary and sage are very popular too.

To make your cellulite reducing combination you first have to decide which oil you are going to use as the base of your mixture. Then select four of your favorite essential oils and add five drops of each into your base oil. When you step out of the shower apply the mixture to your body where cellulite is present.

The oil mixture should be massaged firmly into the cellulite prone areas. Take care not to apply the oils close to varicose veins as this may not be safe. Keep in mind that you are using this cellulite reducing method to remove toxins from underneath the skin’s surface and to condition your skin.

If you decide to try the method of using essential oils while bathing, you can simply add three drops of each of your four favorite oils directly into your bathwater. Using a loofah while in the bath or a body brush just before you get in will work the same way as massaging the skin.

Essential oils can be enjoyable and easy to use at home so they’re definitely worth a try to help reduce cellulite. But, if you’re pregnant or making plans to be soon, don’t start cellulite removal of any kind without asking your physician first.

Bear in mind, not every method of cellulite reduction works for everyone. It’s possible you may have to try a few different therapies, some at the same time as others, to reap the best results.
